Shortage of talent in cybersecurity! What training to meet this need?

According to the 2022 activity report from the “https://www.cybermalveillance.gouv.fr” platform, phishing remains the number one cyber malware with a 7 point increase compared to 2021. In 2nd place are personal data breaches. They too have increased by 7 points since 2021. Finally, online account hacking comes in 3rd place, although this threat has decreased by 5 points compared to the previous year. To reinforce and counter these different threats, it has been announced that by 2030, 4 billion euros will be invested in the Cyber domain (LPM 2024-2030 Low).

Training as public and private actors is becoming increasingly important to understand and better counter the various existing risks (hacking, phishing, malware …).
Thus, EC-Council in this beginning of 2023, offers different programs to certify and have solid skills in the field of cybersecurity at different levels.

  • CCSU, Certified Secure Computer User: This program provides users with the knowledge and skills to protect their most important information. It also helps them understand the various network security threats. Version 3 (the latest version), includes a module on telecommuting and now offers Labs to accompany the learning. Accessible to everyone, this certification training allows any actor, whatever his level, to have a good digital hygiene.

  • The Essentials: EC-Council’s Essentials series is the first MOOC certification course series covering essential network defense, ethical hacking, and security skills. The Network Defense Essentials (N|DE), Ethical Hacking Essentials (E|HE), and Digital Forensics Essentials (D|FE) courses are foundational programs that help students and early career professionals gain the necessary skills in the cybersecurity field. These online courses are free. Paid options are available (labs, exam preparation, certification). .

  • CCT, Certified Cybersecurity Technician: The C|CT is a cybersecurity program, designed by EC-Council, to meet the global need and demand for cybersecurity technicians with strong foundational skills. C|CT is hands-on focused, with more than 50% of the training time devoted to practical exercises.

  • ECDE, EC-Council Certified DevSecOps Engineer: The ECDE course was designed by experts from around the world and covers applications and infrastructure in on-premises and cloud environments. It is a comprehensive DevSecOps certification program. It offers intensive hands-on training with the latest tools and +80 competency-based labs. This certification allows IT professionals to specialize and deepen their knowledge in DevSecOps.

Today, worldwide, there are more than 3.5 million vacancies in the cybersecurity field, including 350,000 in Europe. To address this shortage, EC-Council is setting up a sponsored offering for the CCT. The main goal is to train new cybersecurity professionals who are quickly operational.

All these recognized training courses allow everyone, whatever their level, to progress and understand the different issues around IT security. Moreover, in France, 15,000 positions are available in all cybersecurity professions.
It is up to us, as players, to raise awareness and train our employees, customers and prospects, in order to improve online security and prevent existing threats.
