EC-Council: a brand new Free Entry-Level Cybersecurity Series

The demand for cybersecurity professionals is rising globally, as cyberattacks are increasing in scale and severity and so does the global demand for cybersecurity professionals – in all aspects of the field and across all sectors.

The supply apparently can’t keep up, resulting in a severe talent shortage. But within this shortage, there is an even bigger and more troubling gap: the lack of job diversity in cybersecurity.

In the industry, the number of cybersecurity-related jobs is steadily increasing, but entry-level positions are still lacking. EC-Council’s Academic Division has launched the Essentials Series, making critical and essential knowledge accessible for everyone.

The aim of these Essentials Series is to implement a technician track within the EC-Council Certification Path. This will allow to teach students and professionals baseline Cybersecurity skills across Network Defense, Ethical Hacking and Digital Forensics, with below training:

  • Network Defense Essentials (NDE)
  • Ethical Hacking Essentials (EHE)
  • Digital Forensics Essentials (DFE)

Free Entry-Level Cybersecurity Series

Essential Series is a free education solution offering instructor-led and hybrid learning education courses for students and professionals alike.

Each course will offer free resources to EC-Council partners, to make it as affordable as possible, which include:

  • eCourseware
  • Video lectures and lab tutorials
  • Instructor Slides and Syllabus (exclusive partners only)
  • Optional add-ons, including cyber range access and exam vouchers, are available to enhance the course experience and provide certifications

The essential skills within the three-course track will prepare students and professionals for a new certification, the Certified Cybersecurity Technician (CCT), soon to be released by EC-Council. Get certified on all three Essentials Series courses and continue to develop your career with the CCT program!

All resources for students (including eCourseware, lesson plans, questions and videos) will be uploaded into a SCORM cartridge for educators to include in their supporting LMS, Learning Management System.

The Essentials Series will bridge the gap between end-user security programs (such as CSCU) and highly recognized EC-Council certifications (such as CND, CEH and CHFI). NDE, EHE, and DFE offer a steady pathway to CND and ultimately CEH or CHFI, depending on an individual’s career aspirations.

EC-Council’s Essentials Series will prepare individuals for entry-level roles in the information security and cybersecurity industries. The primary goal remains to provide baseline-level knowledge across essential skills with a pathway to continuously develop and benchmark knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The Essentials Series training program replaces the ECSS course.
